Barrowden is a charming and quintessentially English village,
the green, chestnut trees, the pub, the pond and the church all
grouped around its heart. The pub sells well known real ales
along with its own prize-winning beer brewed on the premises.
Rutland is an area of outstanding beauty. with honey coloured
stone villages, ancient churches, small lanes, beautiful woods
and fields, attractive market towns. It remains relatively
unknown and unspoilt, part of “ hidden England”.
Nearby - the pretty villages of Harringworth (longest Victorian
viaduct in Britain), Wakerley, Morcott, Duddington, and the
Luffenhams. Local activities include riding, cycling, golfing,
walking, and on Rutland Water (largest man-made lake in
Europe, with a great bird reserve at Egleton, scene of the
Annual International Bird fair) there is fishing, sailing, wind
surfing, birdwatching and angling.
